With the way, things are in can be hard to make any plans regarding travel. Do you take the risk and then hope that you can still board the plane or do you wait and consider booking later next year or even the beginning of 2022? It can be hard even to know where to begin to look if you’ve always travelled in the spring or the summer months, so I’ve compiled a list of 5 budget getaway ideas for winter sun.

Some travellers associate winter with snow and skiing, it can be hard even to consider that there are countries around the world that offer sun and plenty of it and you really don’t have to fly to the other side of the world to find it.

  1. The Canary Islands

The year-round sun makes Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura one of the best holiday destinations for winter sun, with average temperatures at 20C and fight times of less than five hours you can top up that all-important vitamin D within hours of boarding a plane. Each one of the island’s offering its own uniqueness.

2. Marrakech, Morocco

The winter months can be the best time to visit Marrakech in Morocco the climate is cooler, and the markets are quieter, which makes it easier to have a proper hunt around and experience the real Marrakech. With average temperatures of 19C and a flight time of just over 3 hours, you hop on a plane for a long weekend. There really are some cool things to do while in Marrakech.

3. Cyprus

A summer break in Cyprus can be hot, with average temperatures during our stay reaching 39C. By the winter months of November, temperatures are a lot more comfortable, and range between 17C to 23C and although to some this can feel cooler, it is a lot more suitable for exploring areas Paphos. The flight is just over five hours, and if you get the first flight out, you could be there for lunch.

4. Cape Verde

Cape Verde is an island nicknamed the ‘African Caribbean’, with its crystal blue waters and stunning beaches. However, it is still a relatively underrated destination globally. With direct flights from the UK within 6 hours and temperatures of 26C (I kid you not), it really should be on your list to visit.

5. Egypt

Located in North Africa, Egypt enjoys warm and sunny weather, even in the winter months. The Red Sea Rivera is really popular with the resort of Sharm El Sheikh being the most visit. Average temperatures are 23C, but it can be colder at night ranging around 4C. It also has some of the best beaches.

These are just some ideas to get you started on your next winter getaway that are suitable for all budgets. You also don’t have to go too far from home, perhaps you want to explore a little of the UK, Cornwall and the south east is mild all year round and offers great short breaks.

      They are pretty amazing places, budget-wise I think they can offer most travellers a bargain in the winter. Some stretch the budget a bit more than others, though. 🙂
