As we move away from the festive season, it’s easy for the doom and gloom of everyday life to kick in. Dark mornings, lousy weather, and returning to work can all take a toll on your happiness – but it’s important to remember that spring will arrive much sooner than you think – and with that comes the sunshine! However, there are still plenty of things you can do now to lift your spirits. For example, you could start to plan your next little family getaway – whether you’re hoping to travel during the Easter holidays or are waiting until the summer months roll around. Right now, we all must focus on travelling safely during the COVID-19 pandemic – which means that for many, international travel remains off the cards in favour of trips that allow them to stay a little closer to home. For example, instead of jetting off on a plane, why not plan the perfect family camping trip instead?

That being said, camping does require a little more planning than other holidays – as you have to put a lot more into the boot of your car than your suitcase and your favourite pair of sunglasses. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to bring along to a family camping trip!

  • A quality tent. It goes without saying that in order to go camping, you’re going to need to get your hands on a tent. While they can be expensive, it’s important that you don’t try to cut corners – as quality tents will last much longer (and ensure that you stay dry when it rains).
  • Outdoor tools and equipment. Going camping means that you get to spend more time in the great outdoors than you would usually. While this can be a lot of fun, you also need to be prepared. For example, you should always ensure that you have some form of battery-powered lights or flashlights with you – as you’d be surprised about just how dark it gets when you’re away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Thankfully, you can buy all of these tools (and more) from ecogearfx.com.
  • A first aid kit. No matter how careful you may be, accidents do happen – especially in the great outdoors. As a result, you must bring along a first aid kit. Right now, you should also ensure that your kit includes hand sanitiser and similar hygiene products to ensure for germ-free travel

  • A sleeping bag & blankets. While the weather may be a little warmer when you set out on your adventure, it’s important to remember that the temperature can dip considerably at night. Therefore, you should ensure that you bring along plenty of sleeping bags and blankets to keep your family warm on the trip. You should also bring along some kind of camping bed or inflatable mattress, as this gives you a better chance of sleeping peacefully.
  • A cool box. While you may want to dine out during your trip, it’s also important that you store some provisions in your tent or at your campsite so that you have access to them if you need them. In addition to snacks, you can also use your cool box to store water bottles and other drinks.
