The Countdown Has Begun – It’s Blogmas!

Happy December! I have been debating since August whether I was going to attempt blogmas for the second year! I failed miserably last year after one week but felt this year; it was ready to go the full hog! I’ve been planning and prepping, and I’m ready to embrace the festive season. It’s Blogmas!

A Very Different Year

Wow, what a year 2020 has been! I don’t want to dwell too much on how utterly awful this year has been from homeschooling to job losses to social distancing or not seeing our loved ones. It is not something we’ve ever had to deal with before, and I don’t believe there will ever be the RIGHT answer. But what a year!

Early Christmas Required

I don’t know about you guys, but Christmas seems to get earlier and earlier! With shops throwing out the summer beach balls and sunglasses and replacing them with woolie hats and tinsel before Halloween is even over. However this year, I fully embraced the need to fill some cheer into our lives, and the tree went up on the 20th November! I think we all need something this year!

Due to COVID-19, our house plans were put on hold for most of the year! September came and went, and we were preparing for a mini pre-Christmas makeover, including the upstairs bathroom. However, little one broke his arm, and we had him at home for most of October, then he had to self-isolate due to School contact so no bathroom! So it’s on the new year, plan.

The Best Made Plans

I had plans, work-related, life-related, and because of COVID-19, it has very much felt that my life is on hold. Moving from a tier 1 to a lockdown to tier 2 has definitely felt like a full slap around the face. I shouldn’t grumble but my mental health as certainly taking a battering this year!

We usually have an annual Christmas lunch with a small group of friends as we don’t see them much throughout the year, but because of COVID-19, we have to move it to the spring. It’s especially tough as one of them is spending her first Christmas alone after an impossible breakup and we wanted to offer her at least something to look forward to. Although for most of us Christmas will be very different, we shouldn’t forget that Christmas is the time for spending with our loved ones (however restrive).

We shouldn’t forget that Christmas is the time for spending with our loved ones but safely!

So you can’t drink at the pub, have a meal out with your Mum friends, and the work Christmas party is a distant memory. We need to make the best of an awful situation. We aren’t big on the Christmas thing, Thomas gets overwhelmed the moment he gets up to the moment he goes to sleep, so we have a quiet day and visit my Mum and step-dad on Boxing Day for another roast and afternoon with the family.

What You Can Expect This Blogmas!

Over the next 24 days, I will be bringing you some exclusive Christmas themed content, and for a sneak peek, I have included the first week below:
